Course Overview

Achieve the skills and knowledge to lead, organise and motivate a team


Who are these qualifications for?

If you have had no formal training but have to carry out management responsibilities then this course is ideal for you. It will develop your management abilities and is aimed at practising team leaders seeking to move up to the next level of management or for managers who need to lead people through specific organisational changes such as budget cuts, redundancy etc. This qualification is available as a concise Award, a broader Certificate or a comprehensive Diploma.

The course will cover the following skills amongst others:

  • organising and delegating
  • ability to perform management tasks – manage projects, lead meetings
  • team leadership – for example, how to motivate people to improve performance
  • change and innovation – plan and manage change, create a culture of innovation
  • communications skills
  • managing people and relationships – negotiation, networking, building relationships
  • leadership – understand leadership, use action learning to develop your leadership capabilities.


Progression pathway

Successful learners can progress to a range of qualifications including:

  • ILM Level 3 Certificate in Coaching and/or Mentoring
  • ILM Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Facilities Management
  • ILM Level 3 Certificate in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
  • ILM Level 4 Award, Certificate or Diploma in Leadership and Management

Total time required for the qualification

130 hours


Structure

There are a minimum of 13 credits and a maximum 36 credits with a two hour induction. At least four hours tutorial support. There is a choice of units from Groups 1 and 2, where Group 1 contains Level 3 units and Group 2 contains units at Levels 2 and 4. Maximum of 6 credits from Group 2
